This moral and literary principle was established during a journey named Kassiginko, and the poet started on it in August, 1689, when he was forty-one years old. This paper is divided into two chapters. How Basho had gotten at his ideal during his wanderings was explained in the first chapter. The development process of his thought was to be analysed following the example of hop, step and jump.
