[B]}, month = {Mar}, note = {P, Two experiments were conducted to examine whether pupils' and students' academic adjustment can be improved by the symbolic modeling that shows effective home-study methods. Subjects of the first experiment were 162 junior high school first grade students, and subjects of the second experiment were 107 fourth grade elementary school pupils. In both experiments each class was randomly assigned to one of three groups. In the first group, subject observed a videotape in which a male model demonstrated effective home-study methods. Subjects in the second group observed a video tape of the same methods demonstrated by a female, and the third group was a control group. In both experiments academic adjustments were measured by NEW-AAI (New Academic Adjustment Inventory). The subjects' scores of study attitude increased through thirty minutes' exposure to the video tapes, which suggests the possibility to improve students' study attitude by using symbolic modeling.
